TECNO has upgraded the Spark 5 series with the launch of the TECNO Spark 5 Pro that beefs up the specs of its predecessor, the TECNO Spark 5.
The device comes packaged in a blue and yellow box that contains the phone itself, a 10W power brick, microUSB charging cable, simple set of earphones, a silicon case, SIM card ejector tool, warranty(12 + 1 months) and user guides.
It’s worth noting that the screen protector will come pre-installed on the phone.
The silicon case has nice texture to it for enhanced grip and the ports have caps on them.
TECNO Spark 5 Pro rocks a 6.6″ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels.
TECNO Spark 5 features a colour-gradient back that makes the phone look trendy, thanks to the two-toned finish.
On the right side are the power and volume buttons. The power button has an orange accent to it.
At the bottom is the speaker grille, microphone, microUSB charging port and headphone jack.
The back not only hosts the fingerprint scanner but also the camera bump. The quad-camera setup consists of a main 16MP camera (f/1.8), a 2MP macro camera (f/2.4), a 2MP depth sensor and another AI lens for scene recognition.
TECNO upgraded the main camera sensor from 13MP found on the TECNO Spark 5 to 16MP – it’ll be interesting to see how this changes the phone’s camera performance.
Selfies are taken by the 8MP front facing camera accommodated in the punchhole cutout. This is the same 8MP selfie camera found in the TECNO Spark 5 launched early this year.
Stay tuned for our full review as we see how the five cameras perform.
Under the hood is MediaTek Helio P35 processor. TECNO also upgraded the RAM and storage from 2GB and 32GB of memory on the Spark 5 to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
There’s a slightly significant bump in performance thanks to the new processor. TECNO Spark 5 Pro is coming to a really competitive market as even cheaper phones are now packing even faster and better processor such as the Infinix Hot 10 which ships with a MediaTek Helio G70 processor – the same processor on the Infinix Note 7.
The good thing is that instead of Android 10 Go Edition, we are now getting the full Android 10 experience coupled with HiOS 6.1.
You’ll still have to tweak with the setting to remove bloatware apps.
Watch out for our full review coming out the next few days.
Powering the phone is a 5000mAh battery that charges with a 10W charger.
We get face unlock and a rear fingerprint scanner for biometrics.
You have variuos colour options to pick from including Seabed Blue(our unit pictured above), Ice Jadeite, Spark Orange and Cloud white.
