TECNO has alot of smartphones in the market with features catering for different consumers.

TECNO has the Phantom series which is their flagship smartphone. This year the company never released the successor to the Phantom 9 from 2019.

Next up is the Camon series which is focused on photography.

TECNO released Camon 15(regular Camon 15 and Camon 15 Premier) series in early April and the Camon 16 series later this year including the regular Camon 16, Camon 16 Premier and the Camon 16s.

TECNO has the Spark series which is their entry-level smartphones – they already have the regular Spark 5 and the Spark 5 Pro launched this year in the market.

TECNO also has the Pouvoir series which focusses on battery life. The TECNO Pouvoir 4 was launched in June this year.

The smartphone company is venturing into budget gaming smartphones with the launch of Pova.

The Pova series focusses on battery and processing power.

TECNO Pova comes with a 6.8″ LCD screen which TECNO calls Dot-in display that features a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The display has a resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels.

There is a rear fingerprint sensor on the glittery plastic back as seen on the image above.

The back also hosts the camera bump that features a 13MP main camera, 2MP depth camera, 2MP macro sensor and an additional AI lens and a quad flash LED flash.

We have a 8MP punch-hole selfie camera in the cutout.

Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio G80 chip similar to the one inside the Infinix Hot 10 launched in late September.

TECNO included 6GB of RAM, Mali-G52 GPU and either 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage. This is an interesting configuration that will have consumers excited – I know I am.

We also get Android 10 and HiOS v7. Game Mode and Social Turbo are present too.

Powering the Pova is a huge 6000mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging through a microUSB port.

TECNO Pova comes in various colours inlcuding Dazzle Black, Speed Purple and Magic Blue.

We expect the Pova to launch in Kenya later next month or early next year with a retail price of Ksh 16,000.

  1. I guess this budget smartphone would do really well because of the huge battery and the powerful MediaTek Helio G80 processor.

  2. There’s no way I’d buy this when there’s Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro which packs Helio G90T, 64MP camera, 1080*2340 and 6 GB of ram for roughly 23k

  3. a big battery and a fast chipset is a must in a good smartphone. i like the tecno pova for this reason 😇
