In October, MultiChoice’s Showmax an Kenya’s third largest operator Telkom announced a partnership that saw customers enjoy Showmax pro on their mobile device.
Showmax Pro is a beefed-up version of the ordinary Showmax, and it had pluses such as live football matches from major leagues in Europe including the EPL, as well as live news access from the likes of Al Jazeera.
Showmax Pro has since added access to Kenyan news stations.
At launch, the Telkom Kenya customers could access the service for KES 1500 or KES 2000 as follows:
- A 30GB data bundle + 1-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription for KES 1500 to stream Showmax Pro Mobile for up to 10 hours per day on a mobile device with a 1GB daily allocation.
- A 45GB data bundle + 1-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription for KES 2000 to stream Showmax Pro for up to 15 hours per day, on a mobile device with a 1.5GB daily allocation.
This value proposition is getting better because Telkom Kenya is knocking off a couple of 100s from the plan.
Now, the price starts at KES 1200 for 30 GB, and KES 1600 for 45 GB, which means:
- A 30GB data bundle + 1-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription for KES 1,200 to stream Showmax Pro Mobile for up to 10 hours a day on a mobile device, with a 1GB daily allocation.
- A 45GB data bundle + 1-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription for KES 1,600 to stream Showmax Pro for up to 15 hours a day, on a mobile device, with a 1.5GB daily allocation.
Registration and payment are done via M-PESA. Interested parties can complete the transactions as follows:
1. Dial *544# and select Showmax Bundle – Buy via M-PESA.
2. Choose your bundle.
3. Put in your Telkom number.
4. You’ll receive an STK prompt to put in your M-PESA PIN.
Remember, the promotion can only be accessed on mobile devices (tablets, smartphones) and not on your PC or TV.
Those who want to watch on other devices can purchase the normal Showmax Pro that goes for KES 2100.
