Gone are the days when having a smartphone was more of a luxury than a necessity and long gone are the days when the excuse of price point was used to not getting a smartphone.
I have had the opportunity to review the new Poco M4 Pro which is a device under Xiaomi brand. This is phone is really defining things in the budget/ mid-range segment.
Display
The device comes packed with a 90Hz full HD AMOLED Dot Display that shows punchy colours and is great for movies and social media. It’s always great to see a good AMOLED panel in the budget segment. I liked the 1000 nits of brightness that the panel offered that made it bright enough to be used under direct sunlight. With the 90 Hz display, scrolling and swiping is very smooth on the device. Ideally the refresh rate is really good for its price segment.
Performance
Poco M4 Pro comes packed with MediaTek Helio G96 processor which is a well tried and tested chip. With this, Poco M4 Pro is good enough for everyday use and can handle multiple apps easily. Its also very good when it comes to mobile gaming and to ensure it operates at peak performance, it has LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus that is designed to keep moderate temperate, no matter how long and how frequently POCO M4 Pro is used.
Camera
Poco M4 Pro has a good camera setup. On the back it has 64MP main camera + 8MP ultra-wide camera combination along with a 2MP macro sensor. The camera setup captures good colours and photos that look pleasing to the eye.
With regards to the video capabilities, with Poco M4 Pro you have your 1920x1080P capped at 30 frames per second which is good enough for your social media and YouTube videos.
Battery Life
With a 5000mAh battery, Poco M4 Pro can last for a day or two depending on your usage. That’s pretty good at this price. The 33W fast charger is enough to get your phone juiced up in a little over an hour.
Conclusion
What’s good about POCO M4 Pro?
POCO M4 Pro is an entertainment powerhouse that combines unbeatable value for money, quality, and performance. A budget device giving you a high end specs.
What’s not good about POCO M4 Pro?
My only disappointment in this is that its not 5G capable due to the Helio G96 processor.
Final Verdict?
I suggest that you give it a try if you’re looking for an overall good premium phone that ranges between Kshs 20,000 to 30,000.
