Xiaomi has officially expanded its global tablet portfolio with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad Mini and Redmi Pad 2 Pro.
Xiaomi Pad Mini
The Xiaomi Pad Mini originally launched in China as the Redmi K Pad back in June, but its global debut now provides Android fans with a serious iPad Mini alternative.
The tablet features an 8.8-inch 3K display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 700 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision support.
Xiaomi also includes TÜV Rheinland certifications and full DC dimming, making it easier on the eyes for extended use.
Inside, the Pad Mini runs on the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, the same processor found in Xiaomi’s flagship 15T Pro. It pairs this with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The Pad Mini comes with a 7,500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. Xiaomi also added 18W reverse charging so you can power smaller devices, and uniquely, the Pad Mini comes with dual USB-C ports, letting you charge and connect accessories at the same time.
Pricing starts at $429 for the 8GB/256GB configuration.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro
Alongside the Pad Mini, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Pad 2 Pro, a more affordable tablet with a focus on big-screen entertainment and productivity.
It comes with a 12.1-inch display that supports Dolby Vision, DC dimming, and TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification for reduced eye strain.
The Matte Glass Version goes further, featuring an AG nano-texture screen that Xiaomi claims cuts glare by up to 97%, improving usability in bright environments.
Inside, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For users who need more space, the tablet supports microSD expansion up to 2TB.
Its large battery ensures all-day usage, making it ideal for students, professionals, and families.
Xiaomi’s Global Tablet Strategy
With the launch of the Pad Mini and Redmi Pad 2 Pro, Xiaomi is clearly taking a two-pronged approach to the global tablet market.
The Pad Mini is designed for users who want flagship-level performance in a compact, portable design, making it a direct rival to the iPad Mini.
On the other hand, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro focuses on delivering a larger screen, long-lasting battery life, and practical features.
