Infinix Hot 10T 90Hz display

Infinix Hot 12 Play has finally been unveiled for the Kenyan market. This is the company’s latest smartphone in the entry-level Hot series.

Infinix Hot 12 Play succeeds the Infinix Hot 11 Play from last year with a bevvy of new features.

Infinix Hot 12 Play comes with a 6.82″ 720p LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

Infinix Hot 12 PLay comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The phone ships with Extended RAM support that adds 5GB of Virtual RAM.

Powering the phone is a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

Infinix Hot 12 Play comes running on Android 12 and XOS 10.6 straight out of the box.

XOS 10 features on-trend system-wide icons, rebound effects, and enhanced privacy packaged into a fresh and secure software experience. Alongside these headline features, XOS 10 comes with MOL translation engine, Smart Panel, Power Marathon, XClone, Monster Game Kit, and  Privacy Tracker for a seamless experience on the Infinix Hot 12 Play series

For optics, we get a dual main setup that includes a 13MP main and a 2MP additional lens. For selfies, we have an 8MP front-facing camera.

We have a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W Type-C fast charging.

Infinix Hot 12 Play also comes with dual speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Infinix says that the dual speaker setup will offer a truly immersive audio experience with deep lows, clear mids and rich crisp highs.

Infinix says that the straight-edge design of the Hot 12 Play gives the device a visibly thinner effect of a 3mm textured look with cleaner lines. The angular exterior is paired with a rich reflection of flowing light and shadow representing a strong and bold image.

Infinix Hot 12 Play comes in Racing Black, Legend White and Origin Blue.

Pricing and Availability

Infinix Hot 12 Play will come in two configurations – 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage for Ksh 18,499 and Ksh 16,499 in its retail stores countrywide and on e-commerce platforms.

“We are continuously committed to designing intelligent smartphones with excellent performance and trendy aesthetics for young consumers, and we will constantly bring the latest, best and most cost-effective products to users,” said Eric Zheng, Infinix Product Manager

“The Infinix HOT 12 has achieved a breakthrough in improved performance, ultra-long endurance and trendy aesthetics, which allows young people around the world to express themselves through their smartphones,” he continues.

The announcement was made at the University of Nairobi during this years’ Tech Week, an event where students are offered an opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas through projects and exhibitions they are working on.

Established in 2018, the event is currently being occasioned by 20 universities countrywide with this year’s event being hosted at the University of Nairobi. In partnership with Infinix, the winners were awarded cash prizes of up to Ksh 50,000 and brand new Hot 12 Play Series phones that were officially launched at the event.
