OPPO Find X5

OPPO Find X5

OPPO has launched a couple of smartphones in the country this year and we’ve reviewed some of them to come up with this definitive list. Links to the full reviews will be included plus their YouTube videos.

OPPO midrange smartphones pack a lot of punch in terms of their price-performance ratio. They rank high in our list of best mid-range smartphones in the country.

Most of the OPPO smartphones listed below already run Android 12 alongside ColorOS 12. And thanks to OPPO’s timely updates, we expect Android 13 to be available to most of them later this year.

OPPO Reno7 4G

OPPO Reno7 4G is the company’s entry-level device in the Reno7 lineup.

It ships with:

  • 32MP selfie camera
  • 64MP main, a 2MP microscope and a 2MP depth sensor
  • 6.43” AMOLED display capped at a 90Hz refresh rate that supports HDR
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 5
  • Snapdragon 680 processor and Adreno 610 GPU
  • 8GB RAM(plus 5GB virtual RAM) and 256GB of UFS 2.2 onboard storage
  • Android 12 and ColorOS 12
  • 4500mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging(an hour to go from 0% to 100%)

OPPO Reno7 4G is generally a well-rounded phone that makes the appropriate sacrifices while maintaining OPPO’s standards for quality and performance.

OPPO Reno7 4G IS being sold at OPPO’s and Safaricom’s retail stores countrywide and on e-commerce sites like Jumia, Kilimall and SkyGarden.

Pricing starts at Ksh 42,999.

OPPO Reno7 5G

OPPO Reno7 5G is the top dog in the Reno7 Lineup in the country.

It comes with:

  • 6.43″ 90Hz AMOLED screen that also supports HDR10+
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 5
  • 32MP selfie camera
  • 64MP main coupled with an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro.
  • MediaTek Dimensity 900 with Mali G68 MC4 GPU

  • Android 11 and ColorOS 12
  • 4500mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging(an hour to go from 0% to 100%)

I’m largely impressed by the OPPO Reno7 5G – it’s a full-feature upgrade with a fantastic display, pretty great and versatile camera, speedy performance, solid battery life and slim design.

Sadly, OPPO has yet to update the OPPO Reno7 5G to Android 12 until now. That’s the only qualm I have with the phone.

Nevertheless, you’ll be levelling up when you pick the Reno7 5G.

OPPO Reno7 5G Review: Edge of Perfection

OPPO Reno7 5G is available for Ksh 59,999 at OPPO’s and Safaricom’s retail stores countrywide and on e-commerce sites like Jumia, Kilimall and SkyGarden.

OPPO Reno6 5G

OPPO Reno6 5G is still holding its own 11 months after it was launched. Early this year, it got the Android 12 update which gives it an upper hand over its successor that’s still running on Android 11.

OPPO Reno6 5G Launch

It’s in line to get Android 13 so that should give it a few more years.

Here are its other features:

  • 64MP triple camera setup that features an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lens.
  • 32MP punch-hole selfie camera
  • Android 12 and ColorOS 12

OPPO Reno5 – 41,999

OPPO Reno5 is undeniably better than its predecessor, the OPPO Reno4.

OPPO Reno5 has a gorgeous gradient design with starry black and fantastic silver, an impressive 64MP quad-camera set-up, robust hardware in the form of the Snapdragon 720G chip, 90Hz AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, stereo sound, 50W ultra-fast charging and excellent battery life.

It runs Android 12 and ColorOS 12 straight out of the box. All these offer incredible killer value.

OPPO Reno5 Review: Basically Perfect

if you’re looking for a mid-range smartphone that does everything pretty well, this should be your first choice. It’s still early in 2021, but we don’t see another smartphone coming along anytime soon to unseat the OPPO Reno5 in the midrange category.

OPPO Reno5 Camera Performance Review: More is Better

OPPO Reno5 comes with:

  • 6.4″ AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
  • OPPO Reno5 ships with Android 11 and ColorOS 11
  • 8GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage

OPPO Reno5 vs OPPO Reno4 Comparison Review: Sibling Rivalry

OPPO Reno5 F – Ksh 31,999

The OPPO Reno5 F is the latest mid-range smartphone in the OPPO Reno 5 series that is equally capable and even more affordable than its older sibling, the Reno 5.

With the OPPO Reno5 F, you are getting a sleek and attention-grabbing smartphone with incredible performance(now runs on Android 12 and ColorOS 12), powerful specs, refined software, crisp camera shots, and high-quality display and excellent battery performance too.
