TECNO Spark 9 Pro 50MP main camera setup

TECNO Spark 9 Pro 50MP main camera setup

TECNO launched the Spark 9 Pro alongside the camera-centric Camon 19 series. I’ve been testing it out these past few days and I can tell you that this entry-level smartphone is up to the task of photography.

You can check out our first impressions review here but in this article, we focus on how its cameras perform.

TECNO Spark 9 Pro rocks a 50MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a VGA camera. For selfies, we get an upgraded 32MP front-facing camera housed in the water drop notch. This is an upgrade from the 8MP selfie camera from its predecessors and it brings improvements in selfies and portraits.

The selfies are really good with great colour, dynamic range, details and sharpness.

Portraits also come out really well but the colours are a little dull.

Here are some samples.

Daylight shots are bright and cheery and they’re pretty consistent in terms of sharpness and brightness. In good lighting, expect photos with excellent detail and dynamic range.

Here are some samples

The phone performs admirably when it comes to videography. Video capture is capped at 2K for both front and rear cameras. You’ll get decent videos serving punchy colours, a good level of detail and exposure. Lowlight selfie videos turn out pretty well – they’re bright and grainy but still usable.

Talking of lowlight – the TECNO SPARK 9 Pro also extends its excellence when it comes to taking photos when the sun sets.

The main camera does a solid job when it comes to low light. The resultant shots come out really good especially if you use the dedicated night mode.

Overall, this is a really good and affordable camera smartphone.

TECNO is focusing its photography prowess on the just-launched camera-centric Camon 19 series and that magic is rubbing off on their entry-level Spark 9 Pro.

Pricing and Availability

TECNO Spark 9 Pro is available at TECNO official retail stores for Ksh 20,899 and e-commerce sites like Jumia.

Its siblings, the TECNO Spark 9 and Spark 9T go for Ksh 15, 599 and Ksh 17,199 respectively.

Look out for our full and comparison reviews coming in the next few days

TECNO Spark Your Dream

TECNO is also running Spark Your Dream campaign powered by the Spark 9 series. The activity is targeting youth between the ages of 18 and above. Through this campaign, TECNO will support the dreams of 3 people who will be carefully selected and vetted by judges.

The support will be in form of cash and a 6-month mentorship program.

The campaign is led by award-winning, recording and performing artist, humanitarian and entrepreneur Octopizzo who is the brand ambassador for the Spark 9 series.
