Apple sets design trends and Android follows suite. First, it was the ditching of the headphone jack, then came adding a notch to the screen. Apple’s Dynamic Island feature on the new iPhone 14 series is now being copied on Android smartphones with realme launching the C55 with what the company calls a mini-capsule feature.

Realme C55 Specifications and Price in Kenya

The Mini Capsule feature is limited in functionalities and will only show step counts, low battery alerts, data usage, and the phone’s charging status.

Apple launched the Dynamic Island feature for showing live activity widgets, alerts and notifications.

Realme C55 comes powered by MediaTek Helio G88 and comes with either 6 or 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of onboard storage. It comes with Android 13 and Realme UI 4.0. Realme UI 4.0 supports virtual RAM expansion which adds 6GB and 8GB virtual RAM.

Realme C55 has an 8MP selfie camera in the cutout that interrupts the 1080p 6.72″ screen. The display also sports a 90Hz refresh rate and brightness peaking at 680 nits.

It also sports 3.5m headphone jack and comes in Sunshower and Rainy Night.

Realme C55 has a dual setup which includes a 64MP main lens.

Realme C55 has a 5000mAh battery which supports 33W fast Type-C charging. The company recently changed its policy, which means each new phone will have 33W or more fast charging.

Pricing starts from Ksh 24,899 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version.

BBK might try to bring the Mini Capsule to its other brands including OPPO and Vivo.

We tried recreating Apple’s Dynamic Island-like pill-shaped cutout on the OPPO Reno6 5G last year using the DynamicSpot Android app and it looked pretty neat as seen below.

Xiaomi was the first smartphone company to copy this design with the just-launched 13 Lite with Apple’s Dynamic Island-style camera hole on the display.
