The foldable smartphone market in the country and globally has grown these past few years but their high price has kept most people from getting themselves a unit. This is why Samsung is making a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6 and now we have more details about this device.
Samsung is feeling the heat with rival companies releasing more affordable clamshell and book-style foldables such as the Phantom V Flip, Phantom V2 Fold, OPPO Find N3 and Find N3 Flip.
A cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 will be a nice proposition for Galaxy fans and the rumours suggest that it will cost around $800.
It will miss out on key features of the standard Galaxy Z Fold6 such as the built-in S Pen slot, a bigger battery, better cameras and the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
Things are looking promising for the more affordable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 as it will be thinner and lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 from last year. It will probably bear the same features as the Galaxy Z Fold5.

Samsung is planning to kick start mass production of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 in early May.
The company is planning to launch the cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6 in September, to shift focus from the upcoming iPhone 16 which is launching during the same month this year. The tech giant has already set the shipment units target for the affordable Galaxy Z Fold6 to be between 200,000 and 300,000 units.
It is worth noting that Samsung is aiming for a 10 million units sales target from their foldables launching this year. The sales target for the already launched Galaxy S24 series is 35 million and so in combination, that will be around 40-45 million which will be positive growth for them.
For those wondering why a cheaper Flip6 isn’t in the making, it’s because the clamshell-style foldable is already established and Samsung sells more Flip units compared to Fold units.
