Kenya-based EV startup, Roam in partnership with electric mobility retailer Ridewell has today opened its first electric motorcycle showroom in Nairobi.
This will be the first physical showroom and will feature the Roam Air, accessories, a range of after-sales parts and gear tailored for electric motorcycle riders. This collaboration will enable Roam to boost its sales in the Nairobi market.
The Roam Air will be sold at the showroom will not only give customers the chance to interact with the electric motorcycle and other Roam products but also access expert guidance from the staff.
The Roam Air packs a removable battery that can be charged at home and offers a range of between 75km and 100km.
The Roam showroom will provide accessories including helmets, riding gear, and spare parts to riders.
The showroom is located directly opposite the Safari Park Hotel along the Thika Super Highway and is now open to the public.
Roam is synonymous with electric mobility in the country having launched the largest electric motorcycle plant in East Africa early last year with a production capacity of 50,000 motorcycles. Their electric buses and shuttles ply different parts of the city. The buses are assembled in the country.
The electric motorbikes can also be purchased across the country, even on credit thanks to a partnership with M-KOPA.
Kenya’s e-mobility is taking shape with other players such as BasiGo, which has been working with partners such as Super Metro and Citi Hoppa. Other companies include Humming Bird (that aims for the hospitality market with Nissan Leafs), Kenya Power and KenGen.
