As YouTube Music marks its 10th anniversary, the streaming platform has begun rolling out a new list of features designed to enhance community engagement, connect listeners with artists and generally highlight fan support.
In a blog post, YouTube Music’s Senior Director of Product, T. Jay Fowler, explained that the best part of hearing a great song is often the next track that comes after it.
The new discovery tools are designed to build on that idea, helping users connect through shared listening habits and explore new music together.
Called Taste Match Playlists, the feature updates daily and reflects the combined preferences of everyone in the group. It works in a similar way to Spotify Blend, which lets friends merge their music tastes into a single playlist.

The platform is also expanding access to live shows, allowing users to see nearby and upcoming concerts from their favorite artists while watching videos, Shorts or browsing official artist channels.
Fans will also get to receive new alerts about any album announcements, including dates and merchandise releases.
The overall user experience is also getting an upgrade with new fan badges like First to Watch and Top Listener. It’s a creative way for listeners to show their dedication to their favorite artists, with even more badges planned for the future.
Fans will also be able to see when official YouTube videos are nearing big milestones, such as 100,000, 1 million, or even 1 billion views, and contribute to helping their favorite artists reach those goals.

“These updates are just the beginning of our next chapter at YouTube Music, where we’re focusing on bringing fans even closer to the artists they love. We can’t wait for you to dive in and explore,” states Fowler in the YouTube Music blog post.
