Film and series streaming platform Netflix is exapnding its mobile Moments feature, giving users more control over the way they capture and share their favorite scenes with friends.
The tool, which was introduced last year on Android and iOS, only allowed viewers to mark a starting point within a film or TV show. Now, users will be able to select both the start and end markers, choosing the exact portion of a scene they want to save and share, offering more flexibility than before.
The update rollout coincides with the release of some new content, like the second season of Wednesday, so the timing is no coincidence.
Netflix is keen to encourage sharing and conversation around one of its biggest shows, and the upgraded Moments feature provides fans with a simple way to spotlight the scenes that matter most to them.
To use the feature, viewers have to simply tap the screen while watching on a mobile device, select the clip option they want, and then fine-tune the beginning and ending of the scene. The customized clip is stored in the My Netflix section, making it easy to revisit at any time.
Clips can also be shared directly through social platforms or messaging apps. When a recipient taps the shared link, Netflix opens to the exact moment in the title, easily guiding them to the highlighted scene.
Moments has already proven popular since its introduction, with some scenes gaining global attention through repeated saves. One widely saved clip has been the Soda Pop debut by the Saja Boys in KPop Demon Hunters, which has become the most bookmarked scene across Netflix.
