At its annual Made on YouTube 2025 event, YouTube introduced a wide range of updates designed to help creators grow, engage audiences, and monetize more effectively.
The announcements spanned new livestreaming features, AI-powered editing tools, Studio upgrades, and dedicated solutions for podcasters.
Playables on Live
YouTube is lowering the barrier for new live streamers with Playables on Live. First launched in 2024 as interactive, lightweight games on YouTube, Playables now integrate directly into live broadcasts.
Creators now have access to a library of 75+ games, which they can play while engaging with fans in real time.

Streams can be monetized like any other broadcast, turning casual gaming into a new revenue stream.
One of YouTube’s key goals this year is solving the challenge of discoverability and audience growth. Three major updates are rolling out, including:
- Multi-Format Streaming: Creators will soon be able to broadcast in both horizontal and vertical formats simultaneously, supported by a single unified chat that keeps communities connected across devices.
- React Live Expansion: Following a successful pilot, creators will now be able to start a vertical livestream on mobile and react in real time to other content, including live events or fellow creators’ streams.
- AI-Powered Highlights: Once a livestream ends, AI automatically finds the most engaging moments and transforms them into ready-to-publish Shorts, extending the lifespan and visibility of live content.
YouTube also revealed a new side-by-side ad format, where a livestream continues to play on one side of the screen while an ad runs on the other.
This keeps viewers engaged without disrupting the stream while still generating revenue for creators.
YouTube Studio Upgrades
Inside YouTube Studio, creators are getting new AI-powered production tools.
- Likeness Detection: YouTube is introducing safeguards to help detect when a creator’s face or likeness is being used in generated content, improving trust and authenticity on the platform.
- AI Lip-Synced Dubs: AI-powered lip-syncing now allows for the automatic dubbing of videos in multiple languages.
For podcasters, YouTube is rolling out AI-driven promotional tools. These features help creators generate short-form content, highlight reels, and marketing assets to attract new listeners and grow their audience across formats.
