The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has made it easier than ever for Kenyans to verify their voter registration details online and register in person through its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Whether you’re checking your name, polling station, or confirming that your information is accurate, it’s important to take a few minutes to verify your details before the next election cycle.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to check your voter status, update your details, and where to go if you’re not yet registered.
Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is an ongoing process by IEBC that allows eligible citizens to:
- Register as new voters.
- Transfer their voting station.
- Correct any personal details.
- Confirm if they are properly listed on the voter register.
Unlike the limited registration windows held before elections, CVR ensures that Kenyans who turn 18 or have missed previous registration drives can register any time at their constituency’s IEBC office.
How to Check Your Voting Details on the IEBC Portal
The IEBC offers an official online Voter Verification Portal that allows you to confirm your registration details instantly. Here’s how to use it:
Step-by-Step Guide
- Visit the official IEBC Voter Verification Portal.
- Enter your National ID or Passport Number (the same one you used when registering).
- Enter your year of birth.
- Click Verify.
- Your voter details will appear, showing:
- Your full name
- County, Constituency, and Ward
- Polling Center
If your name doesn’t appear or your information is incorrect, don’t panic; you can visit a registration center or IEBC constituency office to make corrections.
How to Register or Update Your Details In Person
If you are not yet registered or need to update your voting information, you can visit an IEBC registration center near you. The process is simple:
What You’ll Need
- Your original National ID card or valid Kenyan passport.
- Visit the nearest IEBC registration or constituency office.
- Fill in Form A (Application for Registration).
- Once done, you’ll receive an acknowledgment slip as proof of registration.
You can also request to transfer your polling station or correct any errors during registration.
Where to Find Registration Centers
IEBC has over 24,000 registration centers across Kenya’s 290 constituencies. These include:
- Constituency IEBC Offices
- Huduma Centers in major towns.
- Temporary outreach centers during enhanced registration drives.
If you’re in Nairobi, you don’t have to travel far to register or verify your details. A helpful interactive map has been created to show all voter registration centers across the Nairobi metropolitan area.
The CVR process is currently active in all constituency IEBC offices. Additionally, IEBC is running enhanced voter registration drives across various counties to reach more eligible citizens, particularly young people who just received their IDs.
