Betika Changes Jackpot Rules to Ensure Someone Wins KES 50M

Kenya’s sports betting scene has a familiar problem: massive jackpots that rarely get won. Players stake week after week, prize pools balloon into the hundreds of millions, and almost nobody actually collects. It’s good marketing but terrible odds.

Betika is trying something different with their Must Be Won Jackpot. The prize is fixed at KES 50 million, and someone has to win it within eight weeks. No exceptions, no rollovers.

How It Works

The jackpot runs in eight-week cycles. If someone correctly predicts all the matches in any given week, they win the full amount. Simple enough.

However, if nobody gets a perfect score by week eight, the money still gets paid out. Whoever has the most correct predictions in that final week takes the prize. If multiple players tie for the highest score, they split it. Either way, the KES 50 million goes to someone when the cycle ends.

The entry cost is KES 49 per play.

Even more interesting is that Betika has built in a mechanism that rewards players who enter consistently across multiple weeks.

The more consecutive weeks you play, the fewer matches you need to predict. Instead of removing matches from your slip entirely, you get Smart Play Tokens. These tokens let you cover all possible outcomes for specific matches without paying extra.

Betika Must Be Won Jackpot

Say there’s a match you’re unsure about – maybe it could end in a draw, or either team could win. Use a token on it, and you automatically cover every result. You don’t have to pick. The token handles it.

The number of tokens you receive depends on how many weeks you’ve played in a row. Someone entering for the first time gets none. Someone who’s been playing for a month gets enough to eliminate some of the harder calls.

Why Betika Made This Move

Kenya has 99 licensed betting operators as of 2025, and many run jackpots that stretch into absurd territory, often exceeding KES 100 million or more. Those numbers look impressive, but they also reflect how rarely anyone wins them.

Research from 2021 showed that 37% of Kenyan bettors place wagers weekly, with another 18% betting daily. That’s a lot of activity chasing prizes that almost never materialize. Over time, that pattern doesn’t inspire confidence.

Betika’s approach trades the spectacle of a constantly growing jackpot for a guaranteed payout on a predictable schedule. The prize is smaller than some competitors, but it’s designed to actually reach someone’s account.

The Must Be Won Jackpot isn’t a limited-time promotion. It’s a recurring fixture that resets every eight weeks with the same structure.

For players tired of staking money on long-shot jackpots that never pay out, this offers a different calculation. The odds improve if you play consistently, the timeline is known, and the payout is certain. Someone walks away with KES 50 million at the end of every cycle.

The first cycle is already running. Eight weeks from now, that money goes to whoever earned it.
