It has been the world’s most popular game for a while now, available on web, Apple store, Android and Nokia Store. Starting next year, the app will be a live attraction on playgrounds in Finland in two towns. This was announced on Monday by the Angry birds team after a deal with playground equipment manufacturer Lappset.
This team has the pride of 500 million downloads in less than two years after launch and a venture fund of $4s million from Venture capital firms including Accel Partners who had previously financed Facebook, Baidu and a funding from Atomico Ventures owned by Skype founder Niklas Zennstroem.
Rovio is expanding the brand across traditional merchandising, to items such as toys and baby products, and is taking the birds to the big screen with film studios. Lappset’s work here will be manufacturing ready-made Angry Birds themed playgrounds, play and activity equipment.
