ASUS Fonepad

ASUS Fonepad will be launched in African countries in May and availability in local retailers and partners will also be in May, 2013. The Fonepad, which unlike the predecessor the Padfone that is an Android phone with a dock that makes it a tablet, is a 7 inch Android tablet that has phone capabilities. I am not sure there will be individuals who look forward to holding a 7 inch tablet onto their ear to make a call, but that’s exactly what this one is able to provide.

The ASUS Fonepad was unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Other specs include 1.2MP front camera, 3MP rear, microSIM, 16GB internal storage expandable via 32GB microSD, 7 inch display at 1280 x 800 IPS, 1.2GHz Intel Z2420 and 1GB RAM, PowerVR SGX540 GPU and a 4270mAh battery. Colours are Grey and Gold.

The 8GB version of the Fonepad will be available in Kenya via local ASUS dealers at Kshs. 25,000 ($294) from May 2013.
