We just had the beauty worth waiting for released to the waiting world a few hours ago. I’m still awestruck by that 4.7 inch beauty. We’re sure we’ll be treated to some Galaxy devices we have seen and some we have not seen in a few hours [READ: What To Expect From Samsung on June 20th]. Before that happens, there’s a POI out in the wild. Not a person of interest but something I would call “Phone of Interest”. This is the device codenamed Togari, the Sony Xperia ZU.
Following in the footsteps of its elder siblings the Xperia Z, ZL and ZR, Sony’s first stab at the phablet-loving masses is already refusing to sit in a dark corner and wait for its July 4th unveiling. July 4th is special to American citizens for historical reasons but it will be special to Sony lovers and device watchers around the globe for different reasons. Beastly reasons. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra’s leaked images (as you can see below) suggest a device with the following specs:
- 6.21 inch 1080 x 1824 pixels display
- 2 GB Ram
- 16 GB internal storage
- The world beating Qualcomm MSM8974 quad-core processor, Snapdragon 800 SoC with Adreno 330 graphics (the sort we will see in the upcoming Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced)
There are also some other specs of interest in the leaked screenshots. The Xperia ZU’s CPU has been clocked to 2150 MHz (2.15 GHz!). That is what is expected of the Snapdragon 800 though. It also has 22 sensors! It’ll be interesting to see the battery Sony fits into this beast.
We’ve seen six inchers before in the name of the 6.1 inch Huawei Ascend Mate (another impressive phablet by the way) and the 6.3 inch Samsung Galaxy Mega but never before have we seen them carry kittens. The Xperia ZU does exactly that in one of the leaked images. See the leaked images below:
