Nokia is currently rolling out the Black update to a number of its smartphones (the Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 925) in certain markets. There are reports of the update hitting various handsets in both Europe and Asia today so wherever you are if you have any of these two smartphones, keep checking.
The Lumia Black is not coming to just the Lumia 925 and the Lumia 1020, it will be available on the complete Lumia smartphone range running Windows Phone 8 released prior to the announcement of the Lumia 1320 and 1520. That includes the Lumia 920, 820, 720, 620, 625 and the best selling 520.
The Black update brings the following features to the Lumia smartphone range:
- App Folder – finally you can now group all similar apps into a single folder and place it as a tile on the start screen
- Nokia Camera – this has been around for a while exclusively to PureView camera Lumias but is now rolling out to every Lumia with this update. Nokia Camera combines Nokia’s Pro Camera and Smart Camera apps so that you can make good use of all those pixels on your 1020.
- Nokia Refocus
- Nokia Storyteller
- Nokia Beamer – expands to support documents, presentations and more stuff on your Lumia not just photos.
- Nokia Glance Screen 2.0
- Bluetooth LE – with wearable being an in-thing this year, it was only about time that this happened.
