Vodafone Appstar, a yearly developer contest is back for 2014 after two other rounds, Appstar 2012 and 2013. This contest calls for developers in Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Ghana and India to submit innovative apps that will then be judged for winners local to country and an international competition.
The international competition will be held in India and the developers who qualify will be flown to India for the international contest. This will be the best two developers, one upcoming developer and an established developer (developer with 10+ employees, established more than 2 years ago and with 50,000 downloads and above total across platforms).
International contest winners will get the chance to go to Mobile World Congress come February 2015. This is on top of other prizes, marketing and distribution support from Vodafone. For Kenya, the prizes include the respective trips to India and/ or Barcelona for MWC, iPad Mini 2 and Amazon Gift voucher worth USD 5000.
Contest is open for Android, iOS, Java, Blackberry and Windows Phone developers.
