Huawei’s Ascend P7 was launched last year at a separate event, long after Mobile World Congress had come and passed. Well, this might not be much different this year as reports have it the Huawei P8 should be launching sometime in April. Of course nothing is cast in stone as the company has a press event for 1st of March on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where they will announce new devices. It’s expected that there could be some wearables in there somewhere at the launch. Stay around as we have plans to cover that.
Now what reached us is that the Huawei P8 (notice the lack of the Ascend name which is said to have been dropped for future devices) who’s details were leaked on Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo, will be launching on April 15th in London. That’s some two months away from the MWC event. The device is said to come with the following specs sheet:
- 5.2 inch Full HD 1080p display
- Kirin 930 Octa-core processor which is new
- 6mm thin profile
- Built with Ceramic and Gorilla glass 3
- 2600 mAh battery
- 8MP front and rear camera
- Fingerprint scanner
The expected price point could be at RMB 2,999 ($478), slightly higher than what the Ascend flagships have launched at previously. We will update more should we come by anything new before the launch, and of course we will cover the news of the launch when it happens.
What do you think of the Huawei P8, is it worth your attention when it launches?
