Tinder finally launches Tinder Social, its Group Dating Feature

Tinder SocialA while back, we told you that Tinder was testing a new feature called Tinder Social within the app. Tinder Social which was tested in Australia allowed users on the night out to meet interesting people from within their Facebook circle. The initial plan was to have one of the friends start a group with friend’s they planned to go out with, and then swipe and match with other groups also going out. The test feature allowed users to chat with group matches, see their status and find out where people were headed.

The new Tinder Social comes with some interesting additions while focusing on other activities beyond the night out. In addition to creating groups members will also have the ability to arrange group activities with friends and strangers. Members will first need to unlock Tinder Social within the app or activate it through the settings tab. This allows one to also see other friends within your circle who have unlocked this feature and you can invite them to join your group. The group members can then see other groups and if both members swipe right, they can start chatting via the group chat service feature.

To enhance security, Tinder has allowed members to leave a group at any time if they wish to. In addition, the group lasts 24 hours, upon which the chat expires. This means that individual members have to like each other to stay in contact and have each other’s contact details to keep the conversations on.
