Super Mario Run Races to Android, Launches in March

Super Mario Run, the mobile game based off Nintendo’s Mario mascot, is on its way to Android, several months after it debuted on iOS, Apple’s mobile platform.

Super Mario Run launched on the iPhone and the iPad in mid-December after being announced at Apple’s iPhone 7 event back in September. It went on to garner 40 million users in just 4 days. Now, Nintendo, its maker, is making a play for the largest mobile platform in the world, Android, where it will be hoping to receive a similar welcome.

Towards the end of last year, pre-registrations for the game opened on the Play Store and now we have a timeline for when to expect it launch on the platform: March 2017.

When it eventually arrives, the game is not expected to be any different from what is already available to iPhone users. Players will still need to make sure that Mario runs as long as possible while collecting as many coins as possible. While the app is basically free, a one-off in-app purchase of at least $10 will be necessary to unlock all levels that one can play in.

If you’re looking forward to trying out the latest runner game when it arrives, register to be notified on the Play Store.
