TECNO has announced that their new lineup of entry-level devices, the Spark and Spark Plus. The Spark lineup is the company’s play at regaining its market share that it’s slowly losing to the sibling, Infinix, especially when it comes to entry-level budget devices with sub 10,000 price tags.
The Spark and Spark Plus come with an array of features including a 5.5-inch display for the Spark and 6-inch for the Spark Plus, 13MP Camera paired with a 5MP selfie shooter on both, Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS 2.1 on top, 16GB internal storage with Micro SD Card expansion of up to 32GB and 1GB RAM for the Spark while the Spark Plus packs 2GB RAM. Battery capacity is 3000mAh for the Spark and 34000mAh for the Spark Plus, both devices feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The two phones share the same aesthetic and popping colours, with a pleasant design that does not look plastic but rather tries to emulate the looks of the pricier Camon CX. Other interesting features on the Spark series include the “Mix flash” feature that combines the front-facing flash light and the screen flashing white to further brighten your selfies in low-light. There’s also a feature known as “Dynamic Brightness Recognition” that apparently calls a ‘Visidon highlight algorithm’, when the ambient light is dim, to help enhance the brightness of the image and provide “accurate automatic white balance, allowing the user to see and capture the most realistic image.”
Stephen Ha, General Manager of TECNO Mobile said: “As a very innovative and truly dynamic mobile device company, we believe in our mantra of helping consumers experience more and that is the exact rationale behind these new products. They are not the regular mid-range smart phones available out there with bland offerings rather, they are very stylish and innovative products which can compete with several high-end products available today.”
The TECNO Spark is on sale on Kilimall at Ksh.10,000. The Spark Plus should be available soon as well.
