When it comes to getting software updates, the biggest question Android users have is, if they will get an update, rather than when. Android Oreo was released just the other day and Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X and 6P users have already started receiving the update. The only other device that is not from Google to get Android 8 is the recently launched Sony Xperia XZ1.
Well, for Samsung users, no device has received the Oreo update yet and there are no timelines as to when this will happen, however, we can confidently report that the devices below will be receiving Android Oreo update sometime in the future:
- Galaxy S8, S8+ and S8 Active
- Galaxy Note 8
- Galaxy Note FE
- Galaxy S7, S7 edge and S7 Active
- Galaxy A7 (2017)
- Galaxy A5 (2017)
- Galaxy A3 (2017)
- Galaxy J7 and J7 Pro (2017)
- Galaxy J5 and J5 Pro (2017)
- Galaxy J7 Max
- Galaxy C9 Pro
- Galaxy C7 Pro
- Galaxy Tab S3
There are a couple of devices on the grey line, meaning they might receive an update or not. Such devices include the Galaxy A9 Pro, Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J7 and J5 (2016), Galaxy J3 (2017), Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy J7 Prime.
A lot of Samsung users will be disappointed to learn that the Galaxy S6 series, S5 series, Note 5, Galaxy A series (2016) and Galaxy J3 (2016) will not be receiving Android Oreo.
Please note that this information has not been verified by Samsung, however, it comes from a reliable source.
