Today Xiaomi has announced several products: The Mi Mix 2 with arguably the smallest bezels we are yet to see on a phone, Mi Note 3 and the surprise announcement: The Mi Notebook Pro.

The Mi Notebook Pro looks like a shameless copycat of Apple’s Macbook Pro line and it joins the *ahem* Mi Notebook Air that was announced way back. The Mi Notebook Pro has a 15.6″ display with tiny bezels that is lined with 3rd gen Corning Gorilla Glass which looks rather cool. The top configuration is powered with the quad core 8th generation Core i7 processors which are theoretically 40% more powerful than the previous generation.

Xiaomi has given this laptop a rather basic graphics chip (the NVIDIA GeForce MX150) but it is certainly more powerful than the Integrated Graphics found in the Intel chips. It can go upto 16GB of dual channel RAM and features upto 1TB of the super fast PCIe SSDs.

The Mi Notebook Pro has more connectivity features than the Macbook Pro. It has 2 USB-C ports like the Macbook but also adds a SD card slot, full size HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack. The laptop also adds an integrated fingerprint sensor that is located on the touchpad.

Other key features include a dual antenna AC Wi-Fi (often overlooked feature), backlit keyboard, a 60Wh battery, quick charge capability (0-50% in 35 minutes), speakers that feature Dolby Atmos and Harman Infinity technologies and weighs under 2 kg.

You may be wondering how much this laptop costs and surprisingly, it is not as expensive as the Macbook Pro or other Windows laptops. The Core i7 +16GB RAM model is 6,999 yuan which is $1072 as of writing this article. The Core i7/8GB RAM model is 6399 yuan (980) and the Core i5/8GB RAM model is 5,599 yuan ($858).
