During the launch of the OPPO F5 in Kenya we expected to see three variants of the OPPO F5 but instead, we only got to see the OPPO F5 and F5 6GB, the F5 Youth was missing in action. The OPPO F5 Youth and the OPPO F5 have no visual differences and the internals are quite similar as well.
The F5 Youth comes with the same Full-Screen 18:9 1080*2160p display at the F5, the processor is the same, an Octa-Core MTK Helio P23, the same UI experience with ColorOS 3.2 running on top of Android 7.1, the same battery capacity and the same metallic unibody design. We only see differences when it comes to the RAM which is down to 3GB (still not bad) from 4GB on the standard F5 and the camera has also taken a hit with the main camera being 13MP instead of the 16MP we got on the standard F5 and the selfie shooter also gets “downgraded” from a 20MP to a 16MP sensor.
The OPPO F5 Youth is currently up on Pre-Order via Jumia, retailing for Ksh.26,990, 5k shy off the price of the OPPO F5. We have not yet been informed when the phone will be available on the open market, however, there’s a chance that it will go on sale earlier than the Red-colored OPPO F5 6GB that we expected to be available “before Christmas”.
Speaking of colors, the OPPO F5 Youth comes in either Black or Gold just as we see on the OPPO F5.
