One of Xiaomi’s most interesting products is the Mi Mix line that is characterized by its ridiculous slim bezels. They announced the Mi Mix 3 last year in November that featured this classic design with the addition of a fun magnetic sliding front camera setup.
Well today, they have announced a revision of the Mi Mix 3 that is more in tune with the 2019 smartphone agenda.
The phone is still largely the same but it has some key upgrades. It now features a Snapdragon 855 chipset which has Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem. They also managed to give it a bigger battery with the older model having a 3200 mAh pack and the new one features a much bigger 3800 mAh battery back.
The phone still retains the other features as its sibling. It has a 6.39 inch 1080 x 2340 pixel dense AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. You get either 6, 8 or 10 GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with no microSD card expansion. You also get wireless charging, fast wired charging, type C connector, dedicated Google Assistant Button and the magnetic slide system to reveal the cameras.
There are dual primary cameras with the primary camera being a 12MP one with a f/1.8 aperture and OIS and a 12MP telephoto camera. The primary cameras can shoot upto 4K video at 60fps. The selfie camera array features two cameras with a 24MP main one and a 2MP ‘depth’ sensor. The selfie cameras top out recording at 1080p at 30fps.
The Mi Mix 3 5G will retail for €599 which translates to roughly $679. This has to be the cheapest 5G phone currently but it is more expensive than the Mi 9 that they announced quite recently.
