Facebook is considering hiding the like counts on users posts found on the News Feed just as the social media giant did for Instagram. This is a new move to lessen pressure on the platform as just like Instagram, Facebook has become a popularity contest network.

This new revelation comes courtesy of Jane Manchung Wong who spotted this while reverse-engineering the Android app

Presumably, the likes will still be available to the user who posted and others will see the names of mutual friends who’ve reacted to the post.

It is worth noting that the reaction counts on comments are still visible.

For people in countries where hidden likes on Instagram is being tested, they are already loving this initiative. They can now post without the pre-emptive judgement that comes as a result of the number of likes a post gets.

Facebook is yet to comment on this.
