TECNO Camon 19 Camera Review: Competent Performer

TL;DR The TECNO Camon 19 is not far off from its Pro version when it comes to how its cameras perform and is just as capable.

TECNO recently launched the new Camon 19 series that includes the regular Camon 19, Camon 19 Pro and the Camon 19 5G. We got our hands on the former two as the 5G version is yet to become available in the Kenyan market.

The Camon 19 series is TECNO’s camera-centric lineup and we have already checked out how the Camon 19 cameras perform in this review.

This review now focuses on the regular Camon 19 cameras.

The two Camon 19 phones share the main snapper – the 64MP lens but now it is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP AI camera.

It’s worth noting that the TECNO Camon 19 lacks OIS that its big brother has.

In terms of modes to play around with – the regular Camon 19 shares some with the Pro including the Sky Shop mode which allows you to change the sky in the background of a photo and you can choose between sunny, rainbow, azure sky, starry, galaxy and more.

For selfies, we get a 16MP front-facing camera tucked in the centre-placed punch-hole.

The TECNO Camon 19 took selfies that popped out more in comparison to the more natural selfie taken by the 32MP selfie camera in the Pro.

For daytime shots, the regular went toe to toe with the Pro.

There’s an included Super Night mode to help with shots when the sun sets and in low-lit scenarios.

Overall, the Camon 19 is not far off from its Pro and is just as capable.

The majority of its photos were pleasant-looking too.

Video performance is decent too with resolution limited to 2K for the rear and main selfies on both phones.

Just like its sibling, you get Film Mode which provides you with customizable video templates with themes surrounding travel, sport, party, performance, street, family and more. These templates come together with a variety of transitions, camera movements and music choices in the Film mode.
