The TECNO camon 19 series launched in June this year with various versions like the TECNO Camon 19, the TECNO Camon 19 Pro and the TECNO Camon 19 Pro 5G.
But there was another third version TECNO had in store in which they partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) to make – the TECNO Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition which was announced last evening for the Kenyan market.
From the name, the Camon 19 Pro Art Edition pay tribute to Dutch painter Piet Mondrian and his form of abstract art which features a grid-pattern composition of horizontal and vertical lines in the form of squares and rectangles.
The Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition uses the industry’s first ‘Sunlight Drawing’ technology with the stylistic art form, allowing the phone back colour to change with the light.
Instead of using Mondrian’s pure primary colours, TECNO interpreted his style with pastel shades when the phone is under the sun or UV light.
The back of this special edition Camon 19 Pro uses photoisomer technology which uses the breakage and recovery effect of the chain of photosensitive molecular bonds under UV light, making colourless molecular groups become chromogenic and then go back to colourless.
The TECNO Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition has collected two international design awards, the 2022 MUSE Design Award from the US and the A’ Design Award from Italy.
The new design complements the Camon 19 Pro’s other features including the 1080p High Gamut 6.8″ screen, MediaTek Helio G96 chipset, 256GB of onboard storage with 8GB of RAM and support for up to 5GB of virtual RAM.
It comes running on Android 12 and HiOS 8 .6 straight out of the box.
HiOS 8.6 is a continuation of TECNO’s ethereal, fluid and smart brand aesthetic with enhanced UI and a new set of features.
The TECNO Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
For optics, you get 64MP main rear cameras in the dual ring setup next to a 50MP portrait camera with 2X optical zoom and a 2MP bokeh lens.
The main camera has OIS support and uses an industry-first RGBW+G+P lens for ‘Bright Night Portrait’.
Apart from the usual modes such as beauty, Portrait and super night – you also get a new fun Sky Shop mode that lets you change the sky in the background of a photo and you can choose between sunny, rainbow, azure sky, starry, galaxy and more
For selfies, we get a 32MP front-facing camera.
“We’ve taken everything our users love about CAMON series – great camera, stylish look, and super thin bezel – and created a smartphone experience that delivers a true one-of-a-kind aesthetic never before seen on a mobile device,” said Alex Liu, Regional Marketing Manager of Kenya, TECNO Mobile.
“Today, with the continuous development of the consumer experience economy, art and commercial products are now intertwined. We are so excited to unveil the CAMON 19 Pro Mondrian Edition to reinforce our commitment to innovation – both in the arts and in tech,” she continued.
The launch was graced by personalities like Maureen Waititu, Pascal Tokodi, Nick Mutuma and Joy Kendi.
