TECNO is set to launch the Camon 20 series in Kenya later this month but the phone has already started picking up awards. Camon 20 was the gold winner in the MUSE Design Awards 2023 under the Product Design Telecommunications category.
TECNO used a Puzzle design for the Camon 20. The back design implements 20 irregular ribs in a 3D lychee-pattern on the new Magic Skin incorporating sapphire grade nanocrytalline ceramic which gives the phone a really stylish look.
“We celebrate good design in all its forms and TECNO CAMON 20 Series caught our eye with its outstanding attention to detail, superb craftsmanship, and innovative design qualities, making it a worthy winner of our Gold Award,” said Thomas Brandt, spokesman for the International Awards Association (IAA) which holds the MUSE Design Awards.
Last year the company launched the Mondrian version of the Camon 19 series, the Spark 9 series had a BMW Sport version featuring the blue and white colours in an icy crystal design.
This year’s Phantom X2 series had a Mars Orange Version that used recycled materials from the ocean that are converted to microfibers for the back of the phone.
TECNO is set to bring four devices in the Camon 20 lineup which includes the base Camon 20, Camon 20 Pro, Camon 20 Pro 5G and Camon 20 Premier.
All of them are expected to sport 6.67″ AMOLED screens with the Premier and Pro having 120Hz refresh rate while the rest have 90Hz refresh rate. They will have 8GB RAM and storage option starting at 128GB and 256GB. We expect upto 8GB of virtual RAM thanks to HiOS 13.
The lineup will have Android 13 straight out of the box. Other features that will be similar across the series include 32MP selfie camera, 5000mAh battery and 33W fast Type-C charging.
Dimensity 1300 will power the Premier and the 20 Pro 5G while the base Camon 20 and Camon 20 Pro will have Helio G99 and Helio G85 chipsets respectively.
The Camon 20 Premier will have a 108Mp primary camera with a 13MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. The rest will have a 64MP main with 2MP macro and 2Mp depth sensor.
The Camon 20 Premier and Camon 20 Pro will have under-display fingerprint reader while the rest will have sidemounted fingerprint reader.
Camon 20 series will come in various colours including Pre-dawn black, Serenity Blue, Doodle Edition and Glacier Blue.
