Airtel 5G Network

Airtel Kenya becomes the second operator in the country to launch 5G services with over 370 active sites.

Airtel, Kenya’s second largest telco operator, has launched 5G services becoming the second operator after Safaricom launched its services in October 2022.

Both telcos launch 5G which even as it promises fast speeds, has yet to get a critical user-base that leverages those super fast speeds, especially because of the high cost of data.

Airtel’s 5G services have been rolled out in 16 counties with over 370 sites across the country.

  1. Airtel 5G is currently 4G on Band 41 (TDD 2600Mhz) probably with time they will have proper 5G. Funny thing is that if you set phone to 5G only, it still receives the 4G signal or is it that maybe they forgot to change network icon to 5G?

  2. I have been to almost all of those areas mentioned above and there’s no Airtel 5G. As Holycow says, forcing 5G on the device picks/falls back to 4G instead.
