The Kenya Airways (KQ) web portal has a technical issue that is affecting bookings. Kenya’s flag carrier has informed all its customers that “the “book flight” option on its website is currently unavailable due to technical issues.
However, those who wish to book flights can still do so via the Kenya Airways mobile app. This option remains fully functional without any trouble.
In the meantime, the airline is working diligently to resolve the technical hitch facing its website. Customers have been urged to contact customer service team directly for assistance with their booking if they have any trouble.
Kenya Airways Financial Results
In the year ended December 31, 2023, KQ cut its net loss. This is based on their recently released financial report. In fact, the airline recorded the first operating profit in nearly seven years. The growth of passenger traffic grew by 35% year-on-year was attributed for the positive turn of fortune.
However, KQ is still a loss-making entity, The company listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), reported a net loss of KES 22.6 billion ($171.9 million). The national carrier net loss was down 47% compared to the previous year. It recorded a loss despite the airline’s revenues improving by 53% to KES 177.52 billion ($1.35 billion).
“In the near term, the focus is on completing the capital restructuring plan whose main objectives are to reduce the Group’s financial leverage, fund growth, and increase liquidity to ensure the company can operate at optimal levels,” stated Allan Kilavuka, KQ Group CEO on Tuesday during the release of 2023 financial results in Nairobi.
