Who should you spend your money on
Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube Music are the giants when it comes to the music streaming platforms each with their own perks.
This is a break down of the perks you can get with each of them, and in the end you will get my preferred streaming service.
Spotify
First on the list we have Spotify which has one of the largest music libraries. It has cross play, meaning you can control you music on a different devices such as TV, phone or laptop. Spotify also has an AI DJ who is trained on your listening data. The DJ will generate playlist depending on the time of day and day of the week. They also introduce you to some artist who are more of your taste. Spotify has an ad supported free tier while the premium packages start at KES 300.
YouTube Music
YouTube Musi has the largest music library of all the music streaming services. Since YouTube music is built on YouTube itself, it has a large library of content ranging from music and music videos. This gives it an edge over its competitors. It does not have any stand out features except the large library. It’s pricing starts at KES 419, which makes it the middle child as far as price is concerned.
Apple Music
Apple music is the pinnacle of music streaming services with it having a larger library than Spotify. It has the best sound quality of all the above music streaming sites. It works best with apple devices to deliver high quality lossless audio, to ensure it comes out as the artiste intended you to. This is because the other streaming services have compression. You can also incorporate music you have already bought from itunes. Apple music does not have an ad supported tier and starts at KES 431.
All the above music players have podcasts and support playing local audio from your device.
In my opinion, Spotify wins this one. This is due to having a good user interface, native apps for all major operating systems and an ad supported free tier. But feel free to tell us what you use and your experience with it.
