Apple limits advanced features like Apple Intelligence to iPhones with more powerful chipsets, such as the A17 Pro. As a result, older models, including the iPhone 12 and earlier, won’t have access to these AI-driven capabilities. Each year, Apple removes some older iPhones from the list of devices eligible for iOS updates. For instance, with the release of iOS 17, models such as the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X were no longer supported. This is part of Apple’s ongoing process to phase out support for older hardware as new features require more advanced technology that older devices may not be able to handle efficiently.
Updating Older Devices:
Users with compatible devices can update them by going to: Settings > General > About> Software Update. For supported devices, you’ll see the option to download and install the update. While older devices won’t receive all of iOS 18’s features, they will still benefit from improved customization options, better battery management, and performance boosts.
Apple Intelligence (AI-driven tools) will only be available for iPhones equipped with more powerful chipsets like the A17 Pro, so older models (e.g., iPhone 12 and below) won’t get access to these advanced AI features.
