Apple has officially set the date for its biggest launch of the year: September 9, 2025.
The keynote, themed “Awe Dropping,” will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, and will be livestreamed globally. As always, the spotlight will be on the new iPhone lineup, but Apple fans can also expect updates to the Apple Watch, AirPods, and iOS.
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming.
iPhone 17 Series: A Major Redesign
Apple is expected to unveil four models this year:
- iPhone 17
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Air (a brand-new ultra-thin model replacing the Plus)
iPhone 17 Air:
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be just 5.5 mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone ever, and at 145 grams, one of the lightest. Despite the ultra-slim design, it sports a 6.6-inch LTPO OLED display with 120Hz ProMotion for smoother scrolling and gaming.
Apple is using a hybrid titanium-aluminum frame that cuts down on glass and boosts durability. Color options will reportedly include black, white, light gold, and light blue.
The 2,800mAh battery is smaller than other iPhones, so heavy users may notice shorter endurance. It also features just a single 48MP wide rear camera, leaving out telephoto and ultra-wide options and no support for spatial video recording.
iPhone Pro models are expected to bring the most power. Apple will debut its new A19 Pro chip, backed by 12GB RAM, with a redesigned vapor chamber cooling system to keep performance stable under load.
The cameras are also getting an overhaul, with a new horizontal camera layout, improved telephoto, and better low-light shooting. Pro users can also expect brighter OLED panels and new color choices, with a rumored dark blue and vibrant orange joining the lineup.
Apple Watch Updates: Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3
Apple is also preparing to introduce:
- Apple Watch Series 11: incremental upgrades for everyday users.
- Apple Watch Ultra 3: It could bring blood pressure monitoring and improved sensors for outdoor adventurers.
- Apple Watch SE 3: a budget-friendly refresh with modern Apple Watch features.
AirPods Pro 3
Apple is widely expected to showcase the third-generation AirPods Pro. These could offer better noise cancellation, longer battery life, and tighter integration with iOS 26’s AI features. However, there’s still a chance Apple may push their release to later in the year.
iOS 26: The AI Upgrade
Apple will use the stage to highlight iOS 26, which introduces a fresh Liquid Glass interface and deeper AI-powered features. Expect a more capable Siri, smarter system-wide suggestions, and new tools powered by on-device intelligence.
How to Watch the Event
The September 9 keynote starts at 1 p.m. local time and will stream live on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, and YouTube, making it easy for fans everywhere, including in Kenya, to follow the announcements as they happen.
