Samsung is moving to the next unexplored frontier, computing for kids. There has been laptops developed for kids, but below some age hinges and keyboards are a bit of a bother and hectic. Intel recently announced quality reference design tablets for schools.
Now Samsung unveils something for those in nursery schools. The Galaxy Tab 3 kids. This is a 7 inch tablet with features and applications developed to best suit kids even in the age of 3 years.
“It’s no secret that kids are using technology more than ever before,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “We saw an opportunity to create a device just for kids that provides them with an intuitive, fun and kid-friendly user experience filled with rich, interactive and educational content that parents will love.”
The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids comes preloaded with apps specifically for kids and a dedicated apps store for high ranked kids apps.These include apps in the entertainment, games, educational and e0book apps.
Most important is the ability to give the parent never experienced control over the tablets use. The Tablet comes with a Time Management feature that allows the parent to set the time of usage of the tablet that after lapsing will prompt a password protected lock that prevents further use. Furthermore there is an Application Manager that allows the parent to select which apps to be available to the child.
It also comes with a Kids Case with a kids-friendly grip and multiple stand options as seen in the image above. This case will also have a C Pen for drawing within the applications and providing a fun learning and gaming environment.

The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will be available within September in Korea while other markets like China, Europe, US, Africa, South America and South East Asia get the device subsequently. No price details are available but according to the press images there will be Bright Yellow with the Case also having an array of colours.
