Things have moved pretty fast as far as Samsung’s promise to roll out Android 4.4 KitKat to its flagship devices is concerned. It started on January 10th when the folks over at Sammobile leaked KitKat test firmware for the Snapdragon Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). Two days later the KitKat test firmware for the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) also leaked. It was not to stop there as Samsung started the official rollout of KitKat for the N9005 barely 24 hours later in Poland. The latest leak for the Snapdragon Galaxy S4 came three days after KitKat update for the Note 3 Snapdragon version started. While users of the Exynos version of the Galaxy S4 continue waiting for any signs of leaked KitKat firmware for their device, those with the Exynos version of the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) can smile at last. Their KitKat update is already rolling out.
Currently you can make the update over the air (OTA) but we should have it seeding to Kies pretty soon and online download images should be available as soon as that is the case.
As with any other Samsung firmware updates, this will take up to several weeks before it can get to everyone using an unlocked Exynos Note 3 so for those not in a hurry and have never tampered with their device in the name of rooting or flashing custom kernels, hold your horses (or your flip covers :D) as this will eventually come. For those in a hurry to try things out, have your Odin ready. You know how it goes. Flash and you’re good to go.
