It’s been a long time coming! Vine’s mobile applications are receiving an update that will allow users to upload videos that they shot earlier on. Currently, the popular six second video sharing application restricts video uploads to those shot using the app in real time and users can’t select a clip they shot an hour, day or week ago that just sits in their multimedia gallery. Now they can.

The ability to share old clips to Vine comes in an update that includes several other features that the Vine team says will give you “total creative creative freedom”. These new features include a reworked camera app and better ways to edit your clips before sharing with Vine’s 40 million users.

Instagram which became a Vine competitor after it launched Instagram Video, its fifteen second video sharing alternative to its massively popular photo-sharing feature has had the ability to upload existing videos for a while now.

The update is already available to iPhone users while Team Android members will have to wait a bit before it hits the Play Store.
