Opera, the makers of popular mobile browser Opera mini and other products, has undergone a rebrand that has seen it shed off most of what we’ve come to associate it with for a brand new identity.
The company’s name changes from Opera Software to just Opera while the logo has also been updated to adorn a 3D look.
The new logo is already rolling out to Opera’s products starting with Opera mini for iOS. It’s other apps on Android, Windows Phone and desktop will be getting the visual makeover in their next release cycles (i.e. when a new update is pushed out).
Opera, which has been around for the last 20 years, boasts of a reach of over a billion users every month thanks to its various products. It’s app and services bring in 350 million monthly while its advertising business, Opera Mediaworks (also in line for a refresh), reaches 1.1 billion people.
Opera’s board has recently been on the lookout for a strategic partner to invest in it with some pointing out that the company’s board may be willing to sell it off if it gets the right buyer.
