One of the best thing about social media is that most social networks save whatever we post so that we can look for them later. Some of these posts can be used against you and we have seen examples of this and others can be bewildering especially if you made a prediction and it actually happened.
There was a viral post today on Facebook and I was quite fishy about the whole situation. This guy apparently predicted last year on 27th December several incidences in a post on Facebook we have seen happen recently. It reads:
CALL ME CRAZY BUT IN 2016 hILLARY CLINTON WILL BE THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT, THE WORLD WILL GO CRAZY OVER THE DEATH OF A GORILLA, PRINCE WILL DIE, MUHAMMAD ALI WILL DIE, KIMBO SLICE WILL DIE, DONALD TRUMP WILL DIE. THE USA WILL EXPERIENCE THE WORST MASS SHOOTING..I’M NOT TRYING TO SCARE ANYONE BUT YOU’LL REMEMBER MY NAME.
Here are the crazy stats:This post has been liked by over 27,000 people and shared over 38,000 times. Some of the comments were “illiuminati confirmed” and “oh hell naw” citing their disbelief. I was really skeptical of all this then I remembered that on Facebook, you can edit your posts and thanks to the brilliant engineers at Facebook, you can check out your edit history of a post.
It is rather easy to check out the edit history of a post on Facebook. You only need to tap on the options button on the far right where the “view edit” option is at the bottom. This revealed everything about the post: It was edited over 8 hours ago! The original post reads:
white people outside taking selfies with tornadoes and shit
Next time guys, please be checking the “edit history” option before believing “predictions” you see on your Facebook feed.
