Wefie, pronounced as “WE-fee”, is simply a selfie but with two or more people in it. Urban dictionary describes wefie as a plural of a selfie.
Having said that, let’s get down to the “world’s first wefie smartphone”. Infinix will soon be launching the S2 Pro, a successor to the Hot S. Notice the drop in the “Hot” branding? That was intentional. Infinix needed to separate the midrange S series from the entry-level Hot series.
The Infinix S2 Pro comes in Topaz Blue and Quartz Black. We have the Black version and I love it, you will too. Black is stealthy, looks classy and well, what can I say, once you go black… Ok, get your head out of the gutter.
The focus of the S2 is the dual cameras at the front. A 13MP standard lens coupled with a 135 degrees ultra-wide angle lens maxed out at 8MP, at the back, there’s a standard 13MP camera with dual tone LED flash. The S2 has a 5.2 inch HD screen, covered in 2.5D dragon tail glass, other notable specifications include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader and 3GB of RAM!
I have to say that I was really impressed by the build quality, the chamfered edges, the silver accents. The Infinix S2 Pro is powered by a 3000mAh battery, comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with XOS on top (very disappointed).
Now back to that wide-angle front camera, here are two shots that I took, one with the standard lens and the other with the wide-angle, what do you think:
The S2 Pro will be going live on Jumia Kenya on April 10 and will be retailing at Ksh.15,699. Quite a hefty price as it is a few thousands shy off Infinix flagships price, but having spent a few hours with the device, I am inclined to justify the price but we will talk about that in the review.
