About two weeks after the device was officially launched in the Kenyan market, owners of the Infinix S2 have something to smile about. Infinix has released an update that is currently rolling out. This comes after the company started pushing Android Nougat to the slightly older Infinix Note 3.
The update packs a lot of changes and enhancements, but the icing on the cake is the upgrade to Android Nougat from Marshmallow.
Android Nougat brings a lot of neat improvements to Android, including split screen multitasking, battery improvements with Doze on the go and improved notifications management.
The changelog also mentions:
- fingerprint reader optimizations
- an updated music app
- added security shutdown mode
- stability and performance improvements among other enhancements.
The “wefie” smartphone retails for Ksh.15,700 and offers an impressive specs list with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, a 5.2″ HD display covered with a 2.5D dragon tail glass to protect against drops, a 13MP main camera and dual selfie cameras (13MP + 8MP wide-angle) and a 3000mAh battery.
I have used the Infinix S2 Pro for a while now and the Nougat update is much welcome as the competition (Tecno Camon CX) runs Android N out of the box. My review of the S2 Pro is dropping soon, so watch out for it.
NOTE: The update is about 1.8GB, so ensure you have a strong connection and preferably Wi-Fi before updating.
