A few years ago, the release of national results for Class 8 (KCPE) and Form 4 (KSCE) candidates was a lengthy process that stretched to a near 3-month wait. This has since been improved thanks to processes that were enforced by the then CS for Education Dr Fred Matiang’i.
In 2018, Kenya’s 2018 KCPE Class was even luckier, having received their results barely a fortnight after the last paper. Accessing those results has also been made easier as parents and candidates are required to send the target index number to an SMS number, or logging into the KNEC website as we explained in this piece.
These developments have been complemented by an improved system for Form One selection. The activity has been completed, and here is how you can know which school your child will attend in 2019.
Step 1
Open the messaging app on your device.
Step 2
Type the the student’s index number on the text field. For example, the message can be like this: 0471247885.
Step 3
Send the message to 22384.
Step 4
Wait for the alert.
The service is available for all mobile phone carriers. Also, make sure you have more than KES 25 or airtime before sending the message.
