The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has now released the 2025 KPSEA and KILEA performance results. Over 1.3 million Grade 6 learners and more than 1.1 million candidates with special needs can now access their reports.
What These Exams Are About
KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment) tests Grade 6 learners on what they’ve learned from Grades 4 to 6. It’s the final assessment before students move to Junior Secondary School in Grade 7.
The scoring breaks down like this:
- 60% comes from continuous assessment by teachers during Grades 4, 5, and 6
- 40% comes from the national exam administered by KNEC at the end of Grade 6
Subjects tested include Mathematics, English, Integrated Science, Kiswahili, Creative Arts, and Social Studies. The exams ran from October 27- 30, 2025.
KILEA (Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment) is designed for learners with special needs at the intermediate level. It measures practical abilities and understanding rather than memorization. The 2025 exams ran from October 27-31.
Both assessments are part of the Competency-Based Curriculum that replaced the old system in 2017.
