We have another contender in the sub 25k smartphone segment. Ever since Huawei took the Kenyan market by storm with the launch of the Y9 (2019), competitors have been aligning themselves to at least defend their market shares. First came TECNO with the Camon 11 Pro and now we have the OPPO A7.

Killer Looks

Following OPPO’s 2018 trend, the A7 is a looker with a glossy back panel with symmetrical lines that reflect light thus creating contrasting shades on the device. On the front, OPPO has retained its now-signature waterdrop display that ensures thin bezels all-round the front without necessitating to a block-size notch.Like everyone else in this price range, the device is made entirely out of plastic with gold accents around the main cameras and around the fingerprint scanner – giving the device a very premium look.

Camera

While the competition is busy running around with AI buzz words all over, the OPPO A7 strays away from this. Unlike higher-end OPPO smartphones that are packed with scene recognition software (the AI everyone is talking about), the A7 has none of that, instead, the company has put all its strength in ensuring the lenses used are powerful enough to capture good details and relying on their software processing for optimal output.

Big Battery

Interestingly, OPPO packed a huge 4230mAh battery onto the A7 and still managed to maintain a slim and light feel. The battery is said to deliver up to two days of usage, something that sounds impressive and we will definitely put to test with our review unit.
