Huawei Mobile Kenya is gearing to launch their new budget smartphone to the Kenyan market, the Y6 2019 next week.

The new phone follows previous launches of the Y7 Prime 2019 and the Y5 Lite and it will slot in the middle of these two devices.

The Huawei Y6 2019 comes with a 6.09 inch 1560 x 720 ‘Dewdrop display’ that looks similar to the one on the Y7 Prime 2019.

It runs on EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie and it is powered by the Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 processor.

It has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded upto 512GB with a microSD card.

It has a single 13MP main camera at the back and a 8MP front camera for selfies. The whole phone is powered with a 3020mAh battery. The back also houses a rear fingerprint scanner.

It will ship in three colours: Amber brown with a faux leather design, midnight black and sapphire blue.

When it comes to pricing, the Y6 2019 will slot between the Y5 Lite and the Y7 Prime 2019. These phones retail for under Kshs 10,000 for the Y5 Lite and Kshs 17,999 for the Y7 Prime 2019.

This device comes after a successful launch of the Y7 Prime 2019 which Huawei says they were able to surpass their target by selling over 5000 sales within a month.

Currently Huawei is doing a price guess campaign in collaboration with Kilimall where people are encouraged to go to Kilimall and guess the price of the phone and get a chance of winning a free phone.
