Samsung has today revealed their latest series smartphone, the A80 and it is the mos unique among the line.

First is the design. It has a full HD+ Super AMOLED display with very minimal bezels or sensors which looks pretty clean. This is due to the fact that they were able to eliminate the need to put a front facing camera and let it be on its own flip system.

The headlining feature of this phone is the motorized pop-up screen. This is a design aesthetic we have seen before and it is refreshing to see it here.

The triple camera module features a 48MP sensor which is the highest resolution sensor we have seen on a Samsung phone, an 8MP ultra wide camera and a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor for live focus shots.

This camera module flips so that you can use it as both the primary camera and for taking selfies, which is a neat trick.

The Galaxy A80 also has a healthy 8GB of RAM and 128GB of itnernal storage like the more expensive Galaxy S10 models. However, you are stuck with that storage since there is no option to expand it via microSD.

The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s new One UI on top out of the box. It will ship in three colour options: Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black.

Other features include fast charging (25W), 3700mAh battery and a USB type C connector.

This is not a cheap phone as it will retail for a whopping $730  and will go on sale starting May 29th. This is just below the Galaxy S10e pricing and we will have to see if this will be popular with consumers worldwide.
